Your Questions Answered: The Number 1 Trainer in Southern California Reveals All to Villa Park Residents in Weight Loss Interview
Recently, Sako Yakinian, owner of No Limit Personal Training, was asked to provide the answers to the most asked questions in the health and fitness industry. VPR: Eating less has me feeling hungry all of the time and after two months of reducing my meals, I cannot lose the weight I need to. What is the problem?
SY: Many of my clients were in the same situation, so you are definitely not alone. It might seem logical to assume that if you want to weigh less, you should simply eat less. However, that is not how it works and depriving your body of the nutrients it needs can leave you vulnerable to illness or disease. Instead, it is much better to focus on eating foods that will improve the fat burning process and keep your metabolism at optimal levels. And of course, it is important to exercise in addition to your diet to lose weight healthily.
VPR: The weight I lost from a celebrity fitness expert’s diet came back in three weeks. What did I do wrong?
SY: I get asked this question a lot. Everyone’s body is different and functions in a different way. It is almost impossible to get the same results from someone else’s diet, no matter who they are or how fit they are. Their diets were made to work for them, not you. When a new client signs up for my program, they receive comprehensive body fat testing so that I understand the specific way their body functions. This makes it possible for me to design a customized nutrition plan that will speed up their calorie burning, and make it dramatically more efficient. There are even foods that you can eat that will cause you to lose weight in your sleep. Getting back to your question, you did not do anything wrong, you just need to have a diet that is created for you and your body’s individual needs.
VPR: Why does it seem like the more I exercise, the less weight I lose?
SY: Excellent question. A popular theory is that exercising longer will produce more results. The skeptical side of me is inclined to think that this theory was developed by dishonest gym owners and trainers who wanted to increase their business. Fortunately, it’s not about how much time you spend working out, it’s about the movements you do. Over the years, I have learned that performing a few key exercises in a certain order causes incredible results. It has been proven that short, intense workouts keep your metabolism at its peak throughout the day, which is what leads to serious weight loss.
VPR: What is the fastest way to lose weight?
SY: One of the things that I am the most proud of is that my clients experience amazing results in record time. The secret is that I use a combination of cardio, strength, and core training in their routines. Combining these elements in a non-stop program keeps the muscles in constant motion. Nothing is better than watching the excitement in my clients’ faces as they see and feel their body getting firmer in days, not weeks. VPR: My workouts are not fun anymore and I am tempted to skip them a lot. What should I do to help me stay motivated?
SY: Doing the same workout again and again gets repetitive. It not only becomes less interesting for you, but it also allows your muscles to adapt to the program. Once they are used to the same movements, they will no longer respond to them as well. I change the routines for my clients frequently to make sure they are always fun and exciting. Plus, I do all of the exercises with them to give them the extra motivation they need. SY: If you lose weight in a healthy way, you will have more energy and your overall quality of life will be better.
